On Wednesday, September 15th, Police Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans of the Independence Police Department (Missouri) was shot and killed in the line of duty. Officer Madrid-Evans and additional officers were dispatched to check for a wanted subject and as they arrived, the subject opened fire, striking Officer Madrid-Evans. Officer Madrid-Evans was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Madrid-Evans had just graduated the academy 2 months prior and was still on field training.
Officer Madrid-Evans last act of bravery and kindness came after his passing, as he was an organ donor and was able to donate his kidneys to an officer from the Springfield Missouri Police Department who was injured in the line of duty last year after being struck by a vehicle.
Blaize leaves behind his parents and fiancée. Rest easy, Officer. We’ve got the watch. ... See MoreSee Less
If you are able to update this post to show his last act of giving… he was an organ donor and his kidneys were donated to another police officer at Springfield Missouri Police Department who was injured in the line of duty last year being struck by a car. His kidneys were failing and Officer Madrid-Evans was able to help that officer out. I’m at a agency local to the one Officer Madrid-Evans served with and it hits close to home.
I live here, the entire Kansas City area is heartbroken. He was an EMT B4 police academy. Saturday after his organ donation, the simple plan for 1 vehicle to escort the ambulance to the coroner's office turned into an enormous show of respect from surrounding communities, civilians, law enforcement, & emergency response personnel. It was VERY special. Photo from my daughter's business. Video link in comments.
